HE IS HOLY

 

Hebrews 12:14-17 – Without holiness, it is impossible to please God.

 

1 Peter 1:13-16 (vs.17) 

 

1 Samuel 2:2

 

What does holiness mean? 

 

Holiness is the complete perfection of God. 

 

James 1:17 – There is no shadow or shifting with God. He CANNOT change, perfection does not change.

 

There is no darkness or sinfulness in HIM. – James 1:13

 

Hebrew 6:13-18 – It is IMPOSSIBLE for God to lie (If it were possible for God to lie, it would not be a sin) 

 

EVERYTHING God does is holy. It is without sin and exactly what should be done. 

 

If holiness is God’s perfection and you are told to be holy, what does that mean?

 

Matthew 5:48 – Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect 

 

How?

Matthew 5:43-48 – You are supposed to be like Him, you shouldn’t be biased, you should extend love to all people.

 

Leviticus 19:1-2 – Be holy as I am Holy 

 

How? Context: vs 3-37 – When you do what the Lord says, He is holiness. 

 

1 Samuel 15:22 – Obedience is better than sacrifice.
