Feelings – The Story of Samson | Judges 13 | The Way Fellowship

Samson was a son of promise, a child born set apart by God from his mother’s womb. A Nazirite, the last of the Judges in Isreal. A man used by God whose life was contrary to the covenant he was called to.

Nazarite vow (Numbers 6:1-21) – not the same as being a Nazarene or from Nazareth

He was a Nazarite from birth (closest to being Spirit-filled from birth), being a Nazarite was not something you were born with.

Consecrated from birth

Born to barren parents – a child of promise – Judges 13:2-3

Only Judge of Israel to be called from the Womb

Last of the Biblical Judges

The Angel of the LORD – (Ex 3:2, Ex 14:19, Judges 2:1, Judges 6:11-12, 14, 22-24)

A Theophany – A physical revelation of God in the old testament (Christophany – a physical revelation of Christ)

Instruction for Intermarrying, not about race but worship – Deut 7:3-4, 2 Cor 6:14

His eyes/appetite led astray, the Word of God is not as important – Judges 14:2

He touches a dead animal – He shouldn’t, he is a Nazarite – Judges 14:8-9 (Num 6:6)

He sleeps with a prostitute – Judges 16:1

The Valley of Sorek: border of Philistia and the territory of the tribe of Dan. The Sorek Valley was one of the main approaches into the mountains of Judah and several important cities

Samson Lost his way because he ignored God’s Word and did as he pleased.

He keeps breaking the Nazarite vows without much consequence (GOD is patient with Samson) until the final one and then the Spirit of God leave him – James 1:13-15

He was still a man of faith by doing what he was called to – Hebrew 11:32
