We chase after righteousness not out of compulsion but out of devotion to the one who saved us from our condemnation.
Children honor their father. Exodus 20:12, Proverbs 23:22, Eph 6:1-2, Malachi 1:6
If we are required to honor our earthly parents, how about the God/Father of all creation?
